| Sophia Frost stitched
this early sampler, using a variety of colors with her many bands. It is
stitched entirely in cross stitch. She put the letter U at the beginning
and the letter S and the end of the middle border. We can only guess what
this means, perhaps "United States," since this is definitely an American
sampler.
