This sampler was stitched in England in 1872. It is a rare example of an "acrostic" sampler. The combination of three crosses along with a prayer are intertwined with biblical passages from the gospels of St. Luke and St. Mark. The stitch count is 259 by 367. A 36 count linen was used, thus the design size is approximately 14 1/2 by 20 1/2 inches. Thread used: Needlepoint Inc. 122, 208, 293, and 673. DMC conversion is given. Chart: $14.00 |
