Rachel Marshall - 1792

This sampler comes from England but seems to have Scottish influence with its illuminated alphabets, crowns, and many initials. The focal point of the sampler is the large house with its front lawn. Rachel's age is unknown but she surely was an advanced stitcher.

Stitches used are Cross Stitch, Algerian Eye, Satin Stitch, and Queen Stitch. The original was stitched on 40 count linen. Our model was stitched on 36 count Edinborough. Stitch count is 340 wide by 292 long. Reproduced and stitched by Jennett Whiteside.

Au Ver a Soie silks used are: noir, 946, 1844, 1846, 2212, 2213, 3713, 3832, 4111, 4114, 4534, 4614, 4621, 4635, 4643, 4644, and 5384; and 124 from Needlepoint, Inc..
