The Old Rugg Cushion is adapted from a pincushion in the collection of Bittersweet House. The original was created from a scrap of a hand-woven rug, most likely one woven in the Caucasus in the late 19th century.

The reproduction is worked entirely in cross stitch over two threads on 36 count linen, using one strand of Needlepoint, Inc., silk, and is finished with a backing of black velvet.
