The MH 1724 Sampler

The original sampler, probably English, was stitched with wool on loosely woven linen. We have reproduced the sampler using silk floss.

Our model is stitched on 25 count Dirty Linen from Zweigart, using two strands of Needlepoint, Inc., Silk over one and over two threads of the linen. Stitches used are cross stitch, reversible cross stitch, upright cross stitch, satin stitch, Irish stitch, tent stitch, Algerian eye, diamond eyelet, queen stitch, and rice stitch. Diagrams are provided for all stitches.

The Stitch Count is approximately 90 by 180. Stitched on 25 count linen, the design size is approximately 14.5 by 7 inches. Sampler charted and stitched by Darlene O'Steen.

Floss Required: Needlepoint Silk 221, 123, 124, 902, 611, 613, 615, 674, 758, 631, 633, 634, 642, 645, 251, 253, 256, 528, 841, 842, 843, 877, and 998.
