Mary Dewitt Dansers Sampler 

Mary Dewitt Dansers finished her sampler on May 19, 1834. It was stitched with silk on a linen ground and measures 8 x 17 inches.

Our reproduction was stitched with au Ver a Soie silk and measures 9 x 15 1/2 on 28 count amber.

Mary used a variety of stitches and practised her freehand with simple but elegant little flowers. The stitches used include cross stitch, long armed cross stitch, four sided stitch, Algerian eye, eyelet, satin stitch and chain stitch.

Faithfully reproduced and stitched by Carol M. Sessoms, the Stitch count is 134 by 220.
