Mary Berry Sewing Roll, 1825 

This simple but beautiful sewing roll was reproduced by Edna Medlin from an antique owned by Threads of Gold. It uses five designs, applied to a backing as individual pockets. It is made into a roll with taupe silk inside and copper silk outside, all bound by silk ribbon.

The finishing was done by Susan Stetz (919-552-8133). Silk can be purchased from Mulberry Silks in Chapel Hill, NC, (919-942-7455).

Stitch count is of each pocket, maximum 35 by 53.

Our model was stitched on 36 count Edinborough. You will need 5 squares 5 by 5 inches.

Threads required are au Ver a Soie 2911, 2912, 1844, 3714, 4534, 2233, 3843, Noir, 3841, and 4536.
