The original sampler, dated 1833, was stitched by M. A. Ekins on 40 count linen. To achieve the graceful lines of the floral motifs, she used cross stitch over two threads, but moved her stitching over or down one thread at a time. Her verse is done "over one." The entire sampler is done in cross stitch except for one line of alphabet, which is worked in four-sided stitch, and the tiger lilies, which are done in stem stitch and satin stitch. Our model was beautifully stitched by Betsy Huber. The Stitch Count is 224 by 314. Floss Required: Soie d'Alger 1846, 2136, 2134, 4243, 4614, 4516, 4136, 4544, 3831, 1734, 4634, 1012, 2911, 3832, 4531, 2632 plus Needlepoint Silk 298. Will be ready for shipping in September 2005.
