Harriot Hayler Sampler

Harriot Hayler finished this sampler October 30, 1818. It was stitched on a plain linen ground, 50 count, with silk threads, and uses cross stitch, eyelet, and satin stitches.

The sampler is composed of pretty borders separating two alphabets, and several trees and baskets, including the tulip flower pot.

The original sampler measures 11 1/2 by 11 3/4 inches. Our model was reproduced and stitched by Edna Medlin on 36 count Edinborough summer khaki with silk thread.

The Stitch count is 282 by 292. On 36 count linen, the design measures 15 3/4 by 16 1/4 inches.
