This sampler is the first of two samplers stitched by Elizabeth Roberts. This one was stitched in 1775 when Elizabeth was very young. You will notice some motifs repeated in both samplers, and her unusual "e" which is found in each sampler. Part of her verse is missing and we can only guess its ending.

Our sampler was stitched on 34 count cafe au lait using silk threads.The reproduction and stitching are by Jennett Whiteside of Threads of Gold.

The stitch count is 106 by 186. On 34 count linen, the design size is approximately 6 1/4 by 11 inches.
