Ann Pasfield Sampler

Little is known about this reproduction of an English sampler stitched by Ann Pasfield at the tender age of seven. This motif sampler dated 1828 has a perfectly symmetrical border composed of strawberries. This was the most liked of all sampler borders and is found often in many early English samplers.

The sampler includes four alphabets and numerous borders and motifs.

Our sampler was reproduced and stitched by Edna Medlin on 35 count hand dyed linen with silk thread. Stitches include cross stitch, Algerian eye, and satin stitch. The original sampler was stitched on 42 count linen and measures 12 by 15 3/4, while our reproduciton on 35 count linen will measure 14 1/2 by 19 1/2.
