This sampler was stitched by a young stitcher, probably in the Friesland area of the Netherlands in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth century. The large letters are typical of Friesland samplers Our sampler was reproduced and stitched by Edna Medlin. It is stitched on 35 count cream linen using Needlepoint, Inc. Silk. It was hand dyed after stitching to give it an aged look. The stitch count is 185 by 259. On 35 count linen, the design size is approximately 10 by 12 1/2 inches. Needlepoint silk required: 209, 223, 244, 312, 313, 921, 922, 924, 986, plus Soie d'Alger 3831. DMC equivalents are also provided.
