1788 Scottish Sampler

This sampler was not stitched with the typical colors found in Scottish Samplers. However, the design itself contains bands and motifs which are typical. The illuminated letters are another clue to the origins of the sampler.

Our model was stitched using 29 count sandstone linen, which closely approximates the linen in the original sampler. We have stitched with 2 strands of silk floss.

The design was charted by Jennett Whiteside and stitched by Helen Kelly.

The Stitch Count is 114 by 236.

On 29 count linen, the design size is 8 by 16 1/2 inches.
On 32 count linen, the design size is 7 1/4 by 14  3/4 inches.

Floss Required: Soie d'Alger 1736, 1845, 1846, 2246, and 5385; and Needlepoint, Inc. silks 123 and 124.

Chart:  $13.00
